16 Weeks

How Far Along:
16 weeks today.

Size of Baby:
Baby White is the size of an avocado!

Weight Gain:
Ugh. I haven't gained any weight. From being sick to just a lack of appetite and not being able to eat, what I've gained from the baby I've lost in other places. My doctor said at this point she isn't concerned but I go back in 2 weeks for a weight check and at that point if I haven't gained enough I will go on special supplements. I've never had a problem with not being able to eat, it's so weird to me. I've been trying to eat more smaller meals, hopefully I'll start gaining weight

Maternity Clothes:
Because I haven't gained any weight I still can't fit into any.

Gender:
We find out in 25 days!!

Movement:
Nothing yet, I keep trying to feel something, should be soon.

Sleep:
Recently I've been sleeping great.

Symptoms:
Here is another area of frustration. When I went to the doctor this past week she saw I was wearing my ankle compression. I told her how I think I had a stress fracture from training for the marathon. It had gone away then randomly about 2 weeks ago it started bothering me again. She said it's because I'm pregnant! I guess the placenta gives off a hormone which loosens up the joints, so old injuries can come back. I couldn't believe it. Since wearing the ankle compression more it has gotten better, so hopefully it will go away again like last time. I don't want physical therapy!

Food Cravings:
Nothing out of the ordinary, just normal things that I always like to eat.

Food Aversions:
Nothing really turns me off.

What I Miss:
Again, I miss running. Doctor said if my ankle was fine I could totally start running again. I am hoping to swim a lot this summer, so hopefully that will help. I did have a dream the other night that I was running, when I woke up for a second I really thought I had been running, then I realized I was just dreaming. Yeah, I'm that addicted to running.

What I’m Looking Forward To:
Finding out if baby is a boy or girl. Then the next day I go to the beach for a week, can't wait!

Best Moment This Week:
My 16 week doctor's appointment was good, got to hear baby's heartbeat again. That never gets old!
Snapped this photo like 5 minutes ago when I got back from the pool. Awful lighting, but it shows my belly.

Week 15 Update

How Far Along:
15 weeks today.
Size of Baby:
Baby White is the size of a navel orange!
Weight Gain:
Not sure, will find out at the doctor this Wednesday.
Maternity Clothes:
Still too big for me! Most of my regular pants are too tight, so I unbutton them with a belly band. I am ready to fit into maternity though, I think it will be so much easier and comfortable.
Gender:
Wish we knew!!
Movement:
Still too early.
Sleep:
I am sleeping so much better. Besides getting up to go to the bathroom, I sleep great.
Symptoms:
Overall I am feeling better except I am starting to get headaches. Almost everyday I get a bad headache. Luckily Tylenol works great, even if I just take one, but I would rather not take anything.
Food Cravings:
Nothing too weird. Mostly pasta.
Food Aversions:
Nothing really turns me off.
What I Miss:
I miss eating cold lunch meat. I'm not a huge sandwich eater, but I am definitely missing eating subs and sandwiches without having to toast them first. I am also missing teaching gymnastics. Right after I found out I was pregnant I quit because I was afraid of spotting the girls and just being on my feet for a total of 11 hours on the days I taught was too much. I definitely miss it though.
What I’m Looking Forward To:
Finding out if it's a boy or girl! I've also been doing so much research on every baby product imaginable, so I can't wait to register. I also have my 16 week apt. this Wednesday, so I'm excited about that.
Best Moment This Week:
I've loved shopping around for all the different baby products. I got the best book ever as a gift which reviews every single baby product available, so I've been reading that. It's fun to pick out such cute things!

a few of baby's firsts

This past weekend we went up to Baltimore to visit my dad and see an Oriole's game. I made Clarke take a picture of me because I said it was baby's first game. I am sure this baby will be an Oriole's fan because we'll bring him or her to a bunch of games!
I mentioned in my last post about going shopping with my mom on mother's day. We looked at all this cute baby stuff and kept seeing the same toy everywhere. Sophie the Giraffe, seems to be a very popular baby toy, so finally at the third store where we saw it my mom bought it for the baby. So here is baby white's first toy ever!
Then yesterday I saw it here, on this blog post about what's in your diaper bag. Seriously, she is everywhere and I think it's so funny!

Can't wait for many more of baby's firsts!

Week 14 Update

How Far Along:
14 weeks today.

Size of Baby:
Baby White is the size of a lemon!

Weight Gain:
Still just 1lb according to my scale at home. I don't think it's totally accurate though.

Maternity Clothes:
Still can't fit into any maternity clothes! Wish I could because most of my regular pants are starting to get tight. Still wearing the belly band which is great but I feel like I am adjusting it a lot which gets old. The long maxi dress I am wearing in the picture below is maternity, it's still too big but it's so comfy that I wore it anyways.

Gender:
Wish we knew!

Movement:
Nothing yet, can't wait!

Sleep:
I've been sleeping so much better recently. I think I am finally used to sleeping on my side and just switching throughout the night.

Symptoms:
I must say I am feeling so much better! I am a little tried still, but nothing compared to how I felt a couple weeks ago. I also have noticed that I can't eat as much as I used to. I always thought you were suppose to eat more when you are pregnant, but that's not the case right now.

Food Cravings:
Mostly carbs. Pasta and potatoes!

Food Aversions:
Nothing really.

What I Miss:
Still running. I'm going to talk to my doctor at our next appointment in a little over a week and see what she says. I may try it again since I'm feeling better now.

What I’m Looking Forward To:
I can't wait to find out if it's a boy or girl! June 22nd can't get here fast enough!

Best Moment This Week:
We went to Baltimore to visit my dad Friday afternoon and stayed until Saturday late afternoon. It was fun to think about all the fun things we'll get to take our child to one day. He or she will love the aquarium, the Orioles games and the fun little paddle boats they have in the inner harbor!
It's so fun to think that next mother's Day I will be a real mom!! Today was probably another "best moment of this week" for me. We went out to lunch and then I went shopping with my mom and it was so fun looking at all the baby stuff with her. I hope all the moms had a great mother's day too!!!!

thursday ramblings

Okay, so here is a post about other things going on in my life besides being pregnant!

I am loving teacher appreciation week! Seriously, our PTA is great. Between the lunch on Monday, the smoothies from Tropical Smothie Cafe, all the little treats in my mailbox and breakfast tomorrow morning they know how to make us feel loved. The students are sweet too, I have loved all the cards and the beautiful flowers.
I can't wait for June. I think everyone who works in education is saying this about now. The last day of school will be so bittersweet for me. I've been at Echo Lake Elementary for 2 years now, and I am def. going to miss it since I'm not coming back in the fall. At the same time I am so excited about this new season of life that God has brought me to.

I also can't wait for June because of vacation! My mom's side of the family got a big beach house in Myrtle Beach and I can't wait to see everyone.

I think our yard looks the best in the spring. I love our azaleas in the front and the rain makes our grass actually green. I also planted some flowers for the front steps this year. I am determined to keep them alive this year!
That's about all I have for now. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Week 13 Baby Bump Update

How Far Along:
Today I am 13 weeks. I am officially finished with my first trimester!
Size of Baby:
Baby White is the size of a peach.
Weight Gain:
I've gained 1 lb. But it feels like more because I think I am finally starting to show.
Maternity Clothes:
No maternity clothes yet. Some of my jeans are starting to feel tight and some of my pants that used to be too big for me (since after the marathon) are now fitting me better. I bought a belly band to wear with some pants so I plan to start using that this week.
Gender:
Don't know yet, but can't wait to find out!
Movement:
Too early for any movement.
Sleep:
I am sleeping pretty well most nights. I am trying to get used to not sleeping on my stomach or back, since soon I won't be able to. I also get up about 2 or 3 times a night to use the bathroom, but most of the time I can fall back asleep pretty easily.
Symptoms:
This week I have been feeling so much better. I've heard the second trimester is the best, and I am so ready!
Food Cravings:
Anything chewy, like gummy bears or fruit snacks. Also pasta, I am loving pasta.
Food Aversions:
No food aversions. I did use some new toothpaste, Crest 3D white, and that made me gag. I won't be using that toothpaste anymore.
What I Miss:
Running. I miss running sooo much. This baby is totally worth it, and I may try to start up again now that I am feeling better. But I haven't been able to run for about 2 months and I miss it so much.
What I’m Looking Forward To:
I can't wait to find out if it's a boy or girl.
Best Moment This Week:
Announcing that I'm pregnant on Facebook. I was so overwhelmed with the love and kind words from everyone. Seriously, it meant so much and it was really fun to read all the sweet comments.

That's all I have for now! I hope to do this every week, so hopefully I can see how things change. :)

One More

Okay so I want to post one more pregnancy update, then I think I will be all caught up!

I love being pregnant. I love the anticipation, the joy, everything. People ask me how I am feeling and unfortunately I haven't been feeling so great. Morning sickness has been hard, but this week I am finally feeling better. And this baby is totally worth it.
Snapped this photo on Sunday. I told Clarke I finally have a baby bump!

We heard the heartbeat last Friday at our 12 week doctor appointment. It was the neatest thing ever! Seriously, it was so fast and it's still amazing to me that the little heartbeat is coming from my belly.

I am linking up over at courtneykirkland for 52 faces. My first official "mommy" link up!

Pregnancy Catch Up

Happy May!!

I feel like I have so much to catch up on when it comes to being pregnant! I really wanna document everything on this blog, so I'll start from the beginning.
I was hanging out with a friend and totally joking about how I could be pregnant, and she asked me when I was supposed to get my period. Ever since I trained for and ran the marathon it’s been all over the place, so I wasn’t really sure. I was tracking it on a website so Sunday night I finally remembered to look. It was supposed to come that Friday. I had no clue when I could test, so I googled that, 6 days before. I realized I could test now, but it was way too late at night. So I spent that whole day Monday thinking about this. Finally after school and gymnastics I ran up to Food Lion and called Clarke to tell him I had picked up a pregnancy test and was on my way home. As soon as I got home I took it. I thought for sure it would be negative, we had just started trying. I remember sitting there and just praying for God’s timing and will and then I looked. It was positive!!! I was in shock. Total shock. I was speechless, so I just gave Clarke the test (he was sitting on the couch watching TV.) At first he said “how do I read this?” Then when he saw the little picture on the test and that mine was positive he said “what!!!” I’ll never forget that. We both were in shock and just kept saying this is crazy, crazy in a great way, but crazy. I was so hungry at this point so I made dinner and afterwards I ran up to CVS to buy different brands, to see if the results were the same. I took two more that night, and all came back positive.
This is an awful picture of me, but I had worked 11 hours that day. And I was so happy I didn't care then, ha!
Tuesday morning I took another one, it was positive. Wednesday morning I took my last one, and it was positive too. I knew I had to be pregnant!
I scheduled a doctor apt for that Friday morning, and as time went on I remember thinking “what if I’m not pregnant?” I told Clarke Thursday night “At first I was fine with the test being negative, but now that I’ve had time to really think about what it would be like to really be pregnant and have a baby in November, I’m going to be really disappointed if I’m not.” Waiting for that apt was hard.
It finally came and after what seemed like forever in the waiting room, then waiting for the results the doctor came in saying “we have good news in this room, positive pregnancy test!” I was soooooooooo happy.
That weekend was really great. Telling close friends and family was so much fun. Calling out of town friends and family was really great, although both said “I knew you were gonna say you were pregnant when I saw you were calling!” Haha. Seriously though, since then I have been so overwhelmed with the amount of support and love from everyone in my life. It means so much to me and I will always remember how much me and this baby felt so loved.
