so much to celebrate!

Luke got to celebrate his first St. Patrick's day and Easter recently. 

We dyed our Easter eggs before, Chloe loved it. I actually got good pictures of the two of them, on both holidays, which is so rare.

We had fun opening up Easter baskets before church.

That weekend one of my best friends got married. We had the best time celebrating, Chloe got to be the flower girl too, she did a great job. 

 Emily was a beautiful bride!!!!

It was such a beautiful wedding, so happy we got to be apart of it. 

Becca's Gender Reveal Party!

Last weekend we headed up to Richmond for one of my best friends gender reveal party. We brought Chloe along and she had the best time too.

Her sister in law had the cutest touches all throughout.

The best part, of course finding out that it was a girl!! I was so surprised, I definitely thought it was a boy the whole time. So excited to meet her in about 4 months! 

Weekend Mountain Getaway

This past weekend we got to get away to the mountains near Asheville with our community group from church. A kid free weekend, it was great.

We stayed in this cabin tucked away in Black Mountain. I stayed up till 2am both nights! That hasn't happened in a looooooong time.

 Saturday night we went into Asheville and ate at this cute place, Sunny Point Cafe. The food was fabulous, my favorite was the fried green tomatoes with goat cheese.

Afterwards we went to the French Broad Chocolate Lounge, oh my gosh was it delicious. We had to wait outside in the cold but it was worth it. Their hot chocolate was like drinking a chocolate bar, yum.

But the best part was spending time with our friends and just getting to know everyone better. Oh yeah, and trying to find Billy Graham's house which was supposedly near ours. We had such a great time in the mountains, thankful my mom could watch Chloe so we could go!

2014 Recap

Hard to believe it's already 2015. We've been in Richmond the past week, celebrating Christmas, my birthday and the new year. So I have a lot to catch up on the blog, but thought I would start with recapping 2014. No big life changes this year (first in awhile) and it was exactly what we needed. Lots of great memories and fun trips!

Love my little family, and thankful for sweet memories. Here's to a great 2015!

Mistletoe Half Marathon

Confession: I've been living in Winston for about a year and a half and I had never run in a local race. 

I've trained here, ran through many different routes through downtown, Salem Lake, Buena Vista, the Muddy Creek Greenway and all around my neighborhood. But never an official race, and I felt like I just needed to. With training for the half I couldn't get around to running a summer or fall race so I decided to do Mistletoe. It's a fun, smaller local half that everyone is always talking about. I thought since I already did the training for Richmond why not? 

 I was excited. Until I saw the forecast, 80% chance of rain. The high was 58 so I thought at least it won't be cold. But, the rain held off. Around mile 4 it started drizzling, and it did off and on the entire race. Since it wasn't super cold it felt fine. I was so glad because although the course is hilly it goes through some of my favorite parts of Winston and I got to enjoy it. We had fun along the way because we ran this race with the premise of not caring about our times. We treated it like a training run. We always joke on longer training runs that we deserve a medal, so we finally got one.

After the race we tried a new restaurant, and it was so good. Chloe's just like her parents, she loved the chips and salsa. 

And just for fun I put this collage together. This was my third half of the year, it's been a good year of racing! 

Thanksgiving 2014

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope y'all enjoyed your Thanksgiving with family and friends, and have plenty to be thankful for. We celebrated here in North Carolina.

My in laws came down, and yesterday we went to the Children's Museum. Chloe made a turkey/ indian head dress and she actually wore it. She looked quite adorable!

Chloe enjoyed Thanksgiving and all the prep that went into it, like licking the beater from the chocolate pie filling.

This was my first time hosting Thanksgiving. My in laws were here, and my good friend Kelli and her family came over too. Chloe loved having her bff Olivia here.

They spent most of the time playing in the pantry though. Thanksgiving with 2 toddlers was very busy, but really fun. Chloe's favorites this year were the rolls. mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes. I tried to get more pictures but we were so busy cooking and keeping up with Chloe.

Feeling truly blessed to have such a wonderful family. Being away from Richmond and my family there was hard this year. But, having good friends and family here made it good, and for that I'm thankful. 

A Week in Richmond

Me and Chloe rode back to Richmond with my mom after the long fourth of July weekend. We loved being able to see so many friends and family while there. 

We went to our favorite pool at The Dominion Club, went out to lunches and shopping.

Chloe was enamored with the fountain at Short Pump Town Center.

I wanted to take Chloe to Maymont on Saturday. When we got there after nap, lunch, etc. we saw it was closing early for an event. We tried to make the most of our time, taking pictures and seeing some goats.

The only down part to the trip was when my mom got bit by her cat our first day there. It was bad, but after a few days she was fine, couldn't go back to work so we got some extra time with her.

Since moving away I really love coming back to Richmond, and really treasure my time with the people I love there. I def. don't take it for granted.
