Weekend Randoms

We've had such a great weekend. I must say Chloe has slept so well these past few nights. I don't know what it is, but last night she slept for 14 hours straight! I woke up at 8am and was a little scared, went in to check on her and she was just sleeping sucking on her paci. Couldn't believe it.

Saturday morning I officially started training for the Raleigh half in April. It was so great to see all my running buddies and run a familiar route again. 6 miles in the cold, but it didn't feel that cold. No wind or rain so it was all good. Ready to get back to consistently running!

My big project this weekend was hanging curtains up in the den, study and dinning room. I got curtains for the den from Ikea when I went with my mom about a month ago.
Not the best picture, but you can see they are gray. I wanted something pretty neutral.
Dinning room still has no furniture, but I love how the curtains look.
Same curtains and rods in the study. These curtains were actually table cloths from Target that my mom cut in half and hemmed. They were so much more affordable than "real" curtains at such a long length.
Close up of the rods. I got the rods at the UFab outlet by my mom's house on sale, really love them. It's amazing how curtains make your house feel so much more cozy and homey.

The weather was so nice today. Felt like Spring! We went for a nice long walk.

We've been watching the super bowl tonight. I tried to get a good picture of Chloe in her chair watching the game so I could compare to last year. It was a lot harder this year with an active toddler.

Hope you had a great weekend too!!

5 for Friday

So I am late getting this up today, but we've been busy (okay really we've been at the Y but that counts right?) Thought I would link up with Darci!!

1. Me and Clarke started watching breaking bad on Netflix. After hearing from several different bloggers that they were hooked we decided to try it. Let me tell you, we are hooked! It's actually a pretty funny show, which we weren't expecting. We are really enjoying it when Chloe goes to sleep at night.

2. I got my first pair of Tom's the other day. I ordered them when they were on sale at Zulily. I am loving them!

3. Chloe is really into standing these days. She still has yet to crawl, in fact she has absolutely no interest in it. But she is all about standing. What to do?

4.  One of my best friends from Richmond came to visit last Sunday and Monday with her daughter. We had so much fun going to the pool, Old Salem and out to eat. We love visitors!

5. Last Saturday night I had my first girl's night in my new town. I met some new friends and had such a great time. It's been so nice knowing some other moms as we adjust to living here. We already planned to do it again soon.

Hope ya'll have a good weekend!!

Currently Loving

I am currently loving.........

Breyers neapolitan ice cream with fresh strawberries. Yum.

Netflix. Clarke and I might be on the verge of obsession with Lost. We both never saw it while it was on TV and we are hooked. (Don't tell me what happens, we are only on season 2!)

My new iPhone. For the longest time I didn't want a smartphone, then I found all these cool baby apps. My favorite being the one that hooks up with a baby monitor and you can see your baby right there on the phone. Betty is a fan of the cat apps that  make noises specifically for cats......lol.

The last week of school. It's bittersweet, I can't believe the school year is almost over. I am so ready for summer, but will def. miss being at Echo Lake next year.

March Ramblings

So far March has been one of the best months in a long time!

We had a really busy weekend, just catching up with friends and family. Finally started raking the leaves, and actually made a dent in the backyard. The weather was nice and warm and got a really fun run in with a friend. Mostly just random things, but really great.

I'm excited about March. Change is in the air with spring being so close. I'm also excited about this.........
Girl Scout Cookies! Don't worry, I'll be sharing with hubby, but those Samoas are all mine!

We are off to an evening of worship at church tonight, then Army Wives Season premiere comes on! Haha, I'm like the only one I know that likes this show, but I really do.

Happy Weekend and March!

Valentine's Day 2012

I have to say I had a pretty great Valentine's Day yesterday! I think this may be my favorite holiday to celebrate at school. The kids get so excited about these little cards and candy, and I love watching them.
I got so spoiled. My students also love giving out their valentines too! One of my gymnastics girls even gave me a valentine, which I thought was so sweet of her.

That night Clarke grilled steak, and I made mashed potatoes. It was really nice just to have a low key night. Of course I had to watch the Valentine's Day Glee, which was fabulous as always. This was our 3rd Valentine's Day being married, I can't believe it. We also finalized spring break plans which I am very excited about! (I'll post more about that soon.)

Overall it was such a great day where I felt so loved by everyone in my life. That's the perfect holiday for me!

21 Random Facts

So I was tagged by GBA_gf over at Neurosis of the Stay at Home Marathoner of 3 to write 21 random facts about me. Here I go....

1. I was born in Florida, lived there until I was 8, but I hate seafood.

2. I am trying to convince myself that the marathon has in fact not made me slower. But since it feels like my body just hasn't recovered yet whenever I run. I ran the Turkey Trot yesterday and I know there were lots of hills, but I didn't feel strong. I don't know, I think I am also kinda suffering from post marathon blues.

3. I hate change, but love it when the seasons do. I'm always ready for the next season. I am totally ready for some snow.

4. When I first wanted to teach I was all about high schoolers. Now I am loving the little ones the most. It's funny how God changes your heart.

5. I lost a whole pant size from training for the marathon. I am determined to not gain it back. I lost about 10 pounds right before I got married, then gained it all back plus some. I don't want to do this again! ( I type this as I eat deviled eggs for breakfast.....opps.)

6. I am one of those people who thinks about their future. Probably too much. But right now I am loving the idea of being one of those stay at home moms who runs a lot. And of course I'll need all the cute running outfits to go along. Ha!

7. The Turkey Trot I ran yesterday was at University of Richmond, where I got my teaching license. Made me think a lot about going back to school there. I really think I will one day.

8. My husband and I were in the same second grade class together.

9. I treat my cat like my first born child. Anyone who knows me in real life knows about my love for cats. I know I'm a dork, but really they're just so cute. Can't help it.

10. I love to travel. Whether it's to the Outer Banks (a place I've been to thousands of times) or a place that takes a whole day to get to (like our honeymoon in Martinique) I enjoy it. Currently planning our spring break trip!

11. I am extremely lucky to have a close church family. I have been going to the same church for 12 years and still love it.

12. I am not really into watching a lot of TV. But, every Tuesday I have to watch Glee. It's def. my favorite show. It might also be my favorite running music as well.

13. I teach gymnastics after school and love it. Sometimes I see the older girls doing things I used to be able to do but no longer can. I think to myself "I can't believe I used to be able to do that!" But then I think about the things I can do now that I def. couldn't do back then, like run 26.2 miles. Yeah, that's pretty cool too.

14.  I am still really close to the same friends I had in middle school. It's not normal, but it works for us and I'm so thankful for their friendships.

15. I love decorating our house. It's def. my favorite part of home ownership.

16. I love all things crafty, art museums and modern architecture. Whenever we go somewhere that has a cool art museum or a famous building I make whoever I'm with go. My husband has come to expect this on all our trips now.

17. I am currently obsessed with pink running clothes.

18. Will Ferrel is probably my favorite actor.

19. I was a blonde for a short time in high school. It's funny to look back at those pictures, because I really like my dark brown hair now.

20. I love Coca-Cola. Always have, always will.

21. Although Glee is my favorite show on TV now, The Golden Girls will always be my all time favorite one. I know I know, I'm a dork, but I already said that.

My New Obsession

Okay, so I just have to say that I am currently loving Glee! I had seen a few episodes before the beach with my friends, where I watched the whole first season, but now I am on a mission to finish season 2 by the time the 3rd season starts.
There is just something about all the singing and dancing, and the way the group sticks together no matter what, that makes me love this story.

Can't wait for the new season to start!!

What I'm Loving Today

Happy Wednesday! Here is what I am loving today.....

My friend just posted this picture from the Monument Avenue 10k, I'm loving it.
Seeing this makes me excited for June 4, that's when marathon training starts. I'm really nervous, and sometimes I ask myself am I crazy? But mostly I'm just excited.

I'm loving my free trail of Netflix. I'm still not sure if I will continue it after my free month is up, mainly because it's too addicting. I've been watching way too many old episodes of Army Wives.
Since I recently started watching this show I feel the need to catch up on all the past ones I've missed. But I know I probably should be doing something more productive!

I'm loving this picture as well. It's from the bridal shower for my friend Rebecca we had last Saturday.
I love these girls, and the shower went great. So glad everything went smoothly on Saturday.

I'm loving that this Friday I get to see one of my favorite bands, Carbon Leaf.
It's been way too long since I've been to one of their concerts, and I can't wait.

I'm loving the new show on NBC, The Voice.
Anyone else watching this? I love the fact that the judges can't see what the singers look like.

And lastly I'm loving teacher appreciation week.
These are flowers that my students brought me. I've also recieved a bunch of cupcakes, cookies and other fun things from them. We got to wear jeans to school today, I'm loving this week!

And that is what I'm loving today!

Because I'm a Dork

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a huge Golden Girl fan. It started at the very end of high school and I still just love them. I own every season on DVD, because I'm cool like that. I blogged about it here and here.

I recently saw this cool remix of their theme song (which was my ring tone for several years) and thought I would share. Maybe in hopes of finding another crazy Golden Girl fan like me.

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Happy Wednesday!
Thought I would play along over at Jamie's blog. If it's your first time visiting, welcome!
Here is what I am loving today.....

I am loving making plans for spring/summer trips! I've been researching possibilities for our summer vacation, and on my day off Monday, a good friend and I looked at beach houses online for our girl's trip this summer. It makes me want to go. now.

 I am loving these accessories...
love this pillow
and these planters.
I am loving this pendant light, thinking it might be perfect for over our kitchen table.

I am loving that I start coaching gymnastics in a little over a week. Honestly, I am kinda nervous, but mostly excited. Can't wait to get my team together.

I am loving The Biggest Loser. I just can't imagine loosing that much weight in just one week! It's so addicting, and I have so much respect for those people, trying to make a positive change in their life.

I am loving HGTV's dream home.
Isn't it beautiful? Click here for a chance to win. (And if you do, please take me...thanks!)

And that is what I am loving on this Wednesday!

Blanche

I was shocked when I heard that Rue McClanahan died earlier this morning. To me she will always be Blanche from my favorite show ever, The Golden Girls.
Just last night I was telling my small group how I love the Golden Girls (we were at my house and they saw the extensive DVD collection of mine). It doesn't matter how many times I've seen an episode, it still makes me laugh.
Betty White is now the only Golden Girl left. Estelle Getty died in 2008 and Bea Arthur died in 2009.
It makes me sad.

Click here for a tribute to her life.

Can't Wait!

I can't wait for Saturday Night Live tonight!! I am not a huge SNL fan, but I do watch it occasionally. But, tonight my favorite actress ever is hosting it!!! BETTY WHITE! Yes, I know, I'm a huge dork.
I just love Golden Girls, I own every season on DVD. I know, again, huge dork. I love Betty White so much I also named my cat after her.
If you read this before it comes on tonight you should watch it. I know it's gonna be great!

Olympic Love

Me and Clarke are really enjoying the Olympics this Valentine weekend. It seems we can't turn it off since the opening ceremony on Friday night (which was amazing).
opening ceremony

I love all the stories about the athletes who have overcome so much and have finally succeeded. Maybe it's because my pastor is doing a series about comebacks and overcoming obstacles and setbacks in life. Either way I find it inspiring.

One of my favorites is Hannah Kearney, an American skier who in 2006 didn't even make it to the finals. Last night she won the gold!

Another is JR Celski, an American speed skater. After a bad crash back in September most thought he would never skate again. Last night he won the bronze!

Tonight the figure skating starts, which is by far one of my favorite events. Can't wait!!
