Snow Day!

We've had a fun snow day. This is the first snow that Chloe has been old enough to really enjoy and play in. Last year's snow she wasn't even walking yet, hard to remember. 

Clarke went into work late, and Chloe loved having him home. She keeps saying "snow! snow! snow!" I think she is going to be sad when it all melts away. 

March Snow

We woke up this morning to snow covering the ground. Actually the "thundersnow" woke me up, then I saw the pretty snow. 

It's still really coming down, and here I thought Spring was coming!

Chloe is loving the snow. I opened up the blinds in her room to show her this morning and she started laughing and squealing. She thought it was the best thing ever, quite adorable!! We are spending the day inside, enjoying hopefully the last snow before Spring. 

Chloe's First Snow

This morning was Chloe's first snow!! We just had to take her out for a little bit to get some pictures, it was really fun.

I put her little North Face jacket on for the first time, it's still too big though!

We had fun showing her all the snow, it really was beautiful.

It's so typical of Richmond weather to be sunny and in the 70s last weekend and now there is snow on the ground! Although as I type this the snow is already melting away. But I'm glad that we got some fun pictures and at least some snow this winter.

Too bad it's already melting. It's suppose to be 70 degrees on Thursday, that's Richmond weather for you! I guess I'll just enjoy it while it lasts.

Winter Days plus Macaroni and Cheese

These winter days are starting to become better as it stays lighter a little bit longer. And Spring Break doesn't seem as far away as it did a couple weeks ago. Winter is almost over! I know we still have over a month left, but honestly I am ready for Spring!

I've been trying to enjoy the last of these Winter days though.

We got a sudden snow storm today, which was really fun. Although we were driving home from the mall, but once we got home I snapped these pictures.

I also made this homemade macaroni and cheese the other night. It was so good, and perfect for a cold winter night.

These are the little things that I am loving about wintertime.

ski weekend

This past weekend we went to West Virginia for a ski retreat with the young adults ministry of our church. Overall we had a great time!

We went snow tubing Saturday morning, then skied the rest of the day. We got so lucky because it was suppose to rain all day Saturday, but it didn't. It was super foggy, which wasn't ideal but we were just so happy it didn't rain! I also think this is the first time I went skiing and didn't "wipe out". I was tempted to try a black diamond because a lot of the blues seemed easy, but I didn't.

Sunday morning we had worship together and continued the series we've been talking about at our weekly bible studies. It was really great, and really spoke to things that I've been experiencing lately. It was just one of those times when you really feel God speaking to you. I came back so refreshed spiritually.

I know I have said this before but I am so thankful for the friendships I've made through my church. Love my church family!

Colorado: Part 2: Saturday

We woke up Saturday morning ready to explore more of Vail and get to the top of the mountain. After breakfast we headed to Lionshead Village, which is right next to Vail Village. It's basically another cute area with really neat architecture, cool shops and fun restaurants.

After lunch in town we headed up the gondola to the top of the mountain. And saw this:

Beautiful snow covered mountains. It was gorgeous. We went on a snowshoe hike, which both of us had never done before. It was really hard, but fun.

The snowshoes hooked onto our boots, and it took awhile to get used to. We kept feeling like we were "waddling" up the mountain, because they are so wide. It was great spending more time with my cousin and aunt.

A closer look at my snowshoes. Can you find my feet in there? After the hike, we decided to do something that took less energy, so we headed off to go snowtubing. After some convincing, my aunt agreed to go with us.

Us getting ready to head back up for another run. The tubing park was really cool, they had a covered lift that took you up to the top. I guess it made it a little bit warmer. They also let you hook yourself to each other, so the three of us hooked our tubes on each other, and we went a lot faster. I had forgotten how much fun snowtubing was. Afterwards, we got ready for dinner at The Swiss Chalet Restaurant.

It was a fondue place, and it was soooo good. I love fondue, we had Swiss cheese, lots of meats, and of course, chocolate! Yum. After dinner we crashed, we were so tired and wanted to get plently of rest for the next day: skiing!

Colorado: Part 1: Getting There and First Day!

Sorry for my absence here, we have been out west in Colorado having wonderful adventures and enjoying the beautiful state! We had such a great time, I can't wait to share it here. I'll start with getting there (which was an adventure in itself) and our first day.

We left Thursday afternoon, my in-laws picked me up from our house and we headed to get my husband at his work, then head straight to the airport. I had been praying for our flight. I have the worse luck with air travel. My flight is always delayed, they loose my bags, or someone brings a knife on the plane and we miss our connecting flight (and it's our honeymoon, but I digress.) So, I had prayed for a safe and on time flight. And I was so happy when we arrived in the Denver airport, on time and with no complications! But, I forgot to pray about the weather. And we were headed to Vail, Colorado, where my cousin lives. Vail is about 2 hours west of Denver, and up in the mountains. Where it snows. A lot. And that night it was coming down.

I called my cousin who was suppose to pick us up at the airport, and she was stuck in the mountains, and we were stuck in Denver. The roads were closed, so we would have to spend the night in Denver. It was 1 in the morning, but really 3am to us, because of the time change. Luckily we found a hotel room, and got some rest. The next morning it was still snowing, and my cousin didn't feel comfortable driving (she is from Florida.) So we took the Colorado Mountain Express up.

We finally arrived at our destination almost 24 hours after we left. We were so happy to finally be there, and it was sooooo beautiful there. Vail's elevation is 8,150 at the base and almost 12,000 at the top. We could defenitley feel the altitude change.

We walked around Vail Village, which is a really cute ski town. All the shops and restaurants are around the slopes and skiers are everywhere.

Me and my cousin, Amanda. It had been over a year since I last saw her, so it was great to catch up.

The mountains made a beautiful backdrop and most of the buildings had european architecture. I loved it.

Jesus, Presents and Food

Merry Christmas!!

Clarke and I celebrated Christmas eve with his side of the family. We went to church, and I babysat in the nursery before the service we actually attended. I got to see all the babies dressed up all cute for Christmas. Then we had a big Christmas dinner and did presents with his family.

I made cinnamon buns for Christmas morning breakfast at our house. We opened our gifts to each other, and of course Betty got her gifts.

We headed over to my mom's house to spend the day with my side of the family. We opened more presents and ate more food. I am sooo stuffed as I type this right now! We also got a white Christmas here in Richmond, and it's beautiful.

Snow Day!

I walked into bible study last night and someone said "lucky you, no school tomorrow!" I didn't believe them at first. I couldn't remember a time when they called off school before it even snowed.

This is my first official snow day as a school employee. So I stayed up late last night, and slept in this morning. Also spent some time writing some blog posts (which I will post soon) and plenty of time hanging out with Betty.

Clarke came home early from work today, and we went on a walk.

Now I am waiting to see if I will have to go in tomorrow or not. And as I type this I see school is closed again tomorrow! I guess I am officially on winter break now.

Snowy Day Pics

Winter Wallop

Here I am sitting in my family room looking out the window at a foot of snow! A foot of snow in Virgina! I was suppose to go to work today, but decided risking my life wasn't worth it. I had to work last night and when I got off at 8 it took me 35 minutes to get home (It normally takes me 15). There were a bunch of cars stuck in the highway, just sitting there. The snow is still coming down right now, it is so pretty!

Betty is freaking out, she won't stop meowing. I think she is so confused about what all this white stuff is outside. It is her first snow!!
