34 Weeks

How Far Along: 34 Weeks, I can't believe how close it is getting!

Size of Baby: Baby is the size of a butternut squash. She is between 4.2 and 5.8 pounds.

Weight Gain: About 21 pounds.

Maternity Clothes: When it's not one of my 2 favorite cotton sundresses or sweat pants and t-shirt it's all maternity.

Gender: All girl! I joke about how not funny it would be if she was actually a boy. He would have a pink room and a closet full of dresses and girly things. Also the monogram on so many things would be all wrong too!

Movement: So much movement! This is def. one of my favorite parts of pregnancy.

Sleep: A lot better than last week. I've managed to get some good nights of rest.

Symptoms: Back pain, shortness of breath because she is sitting up so high and just slowing down.

Food Cravings: Pumpkin! I don't know if you saw my instagram photo but Trader Joe's had all these pumpkin things and I couldn't resist. The pumpkin butter is sooooo good!
What I Miss: Not having back pain. Also, it's marathon season and all the posts and photos on facebook plus seeing so many people out running makes me really miss running. I know it's temporary and I'll get back into it, and she will so be worth it. It is crazy to think that last year at this time I was preparing for a marathon, such great memories and something I am so happy I did before I got pregnant.

What I’m Looking Forward To: We have 2 more baby showers coming up soon! Clarke's office decided to throw us a shower which is so sweet of them! We also have our family shower coming up as well.

Best Moment This Week: Just spending time with Clarke and getting some things done around the house that I kept putting off.

I realized that the scarf kinda hides my belly in the photo, but it is bigger!

Mommyhood Things

I feel like I have so much on my to do list before our baby comes! Recently I have been doing lots of things around the house that need to get done before she comes. Cleaning out the refrigerator, cleaning lots of things actually. Some other things that need to get done are installing the car seat, packing the hospital bags, wash all her clothes, finish the nursery and setting up some things. Good thing I still have 6 weeks left!

I don't think I've mentioned it on here yet, but I am going to use cloth diapers with our baby. I'm actually really excited about it.
Aren't they so cute? Besides being adorable I am all about the huge amount of money we will be saving.
I got mostly neutral colors, but I had to get one pink one!

I must say this little one has gotten so spoiled since I've been at home more.
I am kinda worried about how she is going to react to the new addition to our family. Besides the crying, I hope she doesn't get jealous. Her whole world is going to be so different, I just hope she adjusts well.

We are almost done with our childbirth class. Overall it's been really great, but I must say the whole labor and delivery process does kinda scare me. I know it's what my body was designed to do and everything, but there are so many unknowns. I just pray that everything goes well and as routine as possible.

That's about all that is going on around here. I am so thankful for time to prepare for such a huge life change, and to enjoy quality time with Clarke before our baby comes. Life will never be the same again but I am really ready for it. So much has changed since I got pregnant, I really feel that God has changed my heart and has been preparing us for this baby. Some days it just seems surreal that we are actually starting a family. But either way I feel extremely blessed that I get to be a mommy!

Hatteras 2012

Last week me and Clarke went down to Hatteras Island in the Outer Banks of North Carolina for some relaxation, a family reunion with his mom's side of the family and to enjoy one of our favorite places one more time before the baby comes.
We got lucky and had great weather. It was sunny skys the whole time we were there!
Lots of people were there for the reunion, as well as their dogs. We enjoyed spending time at the pool, the beach, seeing all the boats and fish at Oregon Inlet Fishing Center and the lighthouse as well. Most of Clarke's relatives had never been to Hatteras Island before, so we had to show them all the sights.
Beautiful sky one evening.
One of the highlights of the trip was a surprise baby shower! It was so sweet of everyone, they got Clarke to make me watch Glee downstairs as they set everything up.
Once again, our little girl got so many nice things. We are so blessed!
Sunday we went into Manteo for lunch and to visit the Elizabethan gardens. I love the little town of Manteo, right on the water and so quaint.
The gardens were really pretty, and it was such a nice day.
We had such a great time. It's hard to believe next time we visit we will have a baby with us. It will be different, but I'm so excited to share everything with her, can't wait!

33 Weeks....a lil late!

How Far Along: 33 weeks, 2 days.

Size of Baby: Baby is the size of a durian fruit, a little over 4 pounds.

Weight Gain: I just weighed myself this morning after coming back from vacation, I've gained a total of 20 pounds.

Maternity Clothes: Mostly maternity clothes. I let the drawstrings out of all my sweat pants so I can wear them now.

Gender: All Girl!!

Movement: Lots of movement, especially at night and up high.

Sleep: This past week we were on vacation at the beach, and I slept awful. I think just not being in my own bed, as well as a noisy house just made it hard. I was so happy to sleep in my own bed last night!

Symptoms: Back pain, and lots of it.

Food Cravings: Ice cream again. I had the best mint chocolate chip ice cream at the beach, it was so good!

What I Miss: No back pain, being comfortable.

What I’m Looking Forward To: Enjoying this gorgeous fall weather. I love the cool crisp air, the leaves are starting to change into beautiful colors and I just want to soak up lots of time with Clarke before our baby comes.

Best Moment This Week: Being at the beach. We had really nice weather, not warm enough to get in the ocean but warm enough to enjoy it. Clarke ended up taking an extra vacation day and we came back Monday instead of Sunday because we were having such a great time. I'll def. post more about our trip soon!

Photo Dump

I am loving pumpkin muffins from Panera. I just had one this afternoon, oh my gosh it was so good! I am all about pumpkin in the fall and this did not disappoint.

Look at the grass growing in our yard! Ha, I'm sure ya'll are tired of hearing about my grass, not so exciting but I am glad to see it growing!

I love changing wreaths on our front door, and this one makes me happy. So glad fall is almost really here.

Our windows have been open the past few days, me and Betty both love it. She can't get enough of hearing the birds and everything out there, I love that it's saving us so much money on our power bill!

32 Weeks

How Far Along: 32 Weeks. 8 more to go!

Size of Baby: Baby is the size of a squash. I had an ultrasound the other day at my dr. apt because when they measured my belly they thought she was too small, but she was fine and weighs 3lbs 11 ounces right now!

Weight Gain: I've gained about 16 pounds.

Maternity Clothes: Mostly maternity clothes right now. Most of my t-shirts and stretchy pants still fit, especially the ones with the drawstrings that I just let out.

Gender: Girl!! :)

Movement: Lots of movement, especially at night. I am trying to figure out elbows and arms now because they told me how she was positioned after the ultrasound.

Sleep: Ugh, sleep has been rough this week. Seems I just can't get enough.

Symptoms: Lots of congestion, don't know if this is pregnancy related or just due to the change in weather, but I can't take anything for it. My belly is growing and my skin is so itchy. My lower back has been hurting and just overall tiredness. I've also recently had shortness of breath, because she is pushing up against my lungs.

Food Cravings: Recently pumpkin spice lattes (I get decaff), although I always love them at this time of year so I don't know if that is due to carrying this baby or not.

What I Miss: Sleeping comfortably and well, taking cold medicine, my nice jeans and no back pain.

What I’m Looking Forward To: We leave on Wednesday for the beach! Forecast is calling for no rain, so I'm excited.

Best Moment This Week: Having an ultrasound, although at first I was scared because they thought she was too small, but then when things were fine it was really neat to see her again. Another great moment was seeing little grass strands start to pop up in our yard, I know that has nothing to do with pregnancy but after all the time we put into it I am glad it's working!! I am also loving the cooler weather, it's been so nice.

Yard Stuff

Redoing our backyard has always been on our to do list and we are finally getting to it. After we paved our driveway (well we paved half of it, it was huge and we really didn't need enough space for 4 cars to park) we started to plant grass.

Well first we got a lot of topsoil delivered, the pile was huge. Clarke and his parents spent a couple days spreading it out, I felt bad that I couldn't help but Clarke worked so hard on it.
He also put lime and fertilizer down.
I did sprinkle lots of grass seed down, and went to Southern States a couple times. This is what our yard looked like after he finished getting everything ready for the grass seed.
I really hope when I post the next picture there will be green grass growing. Before it was mainly weeds, so we keep saying anything will be better than before! Now I am just watering it a lot, waiting for mother nature to work!

Friends Baby Shower

This past weekend was my baby shower with my friends. All I can say is I felt so blessed and loved. The food, decorations, games and everything was just perfect!

My friend made this cute wreath and it was hanging up at the shower, now it's hanging in her nursery!
I must say me and this baby got showered with gifts! She got so many nice things and is def. going to be well dressed with all the adorable onesies and outfits she got! I can't wait for her to wear them and I can't wait to use all the great things I got too.
It was so great to see friends I hadn't seen in awhile.
Me and the wonderful hostesses! I am so lucky to have been friends with these ladies for so long!
When I got home Betty was so interested in everything for her new little sister. She was practically rolling around in the clothes and couldn't stop smelling everything.

I know I already said how blessed I feel, but I really do. All the love and support from my friends and family has meant so much to me over these past few months and especially last Saturday at my shower.

31 Weeks

How Far Along: 31 Weeks.

Size of Baby: Baby is the size of a pineapple. That seems really big to me!

Weight Gain: I've gained about 16 pounds.

Maternity Clothes: Can't wait for cooler weather to wear some of my fall maternity clothes.

Gender: Girl!! I was joking with someone how not funny it would be if it really was a boy, he would have to wear mostly pink, and live in a pink nursery.

Movement: Lots, especially at night.

Sleep: So not good. I wake up in the middle of the night and can't fall back asleep. Sometimes I have trouble just falling asleep. My back pain has made it even worse.

Symptoms: My back hurts. The heating pad is my new best friend.

Food Cravings: I've been craving more salads recently, I guess that's good. Ice cream is still pretty great though!

What I Miss: Sleeping well and comfortably.

What I’m Looking Forward To: Going to the beach in a little over a week. When we go next year it will be so different with a baby. Can't wait to eat at out favorite restaurants and just enjoy some time away.

Best Moment This Week: Def. my baby shower. I will do a separate post about it, but it was so great. I felt so loved by all my friends and family. I must say this little girl will be the best dressed, she got so many beautiful clothes!!

Unrelated to Baby

So in the past couple of months this blog has gone from posts about anything/everything in my life to all about     pregnancy and getting ready for this baby. I'm okay with that, because that's my life right now. Last fall I posted so much about running and training for the marathon, this fall will be all about baby! But I thought I would do one post about things going on in my life not related to baby.

We leave for Hatteras Island, NC in 2 weeks! I'm excited because I haven't been to the Outer Banks in over a year, and we always go every year. I can't wait to eat at our favorite restaurants, go to the outlets, we might go to the aquarium and hopefully we'll have good weather for some beach days.

On a totally different note, we got a new driveway!!! It was sooo bad before, weeds were everywhere just out of control. The slope was all wrong, in fact Clarke couldn't even park in the driveway. Here are some before pictures, I wanted to document how bad it really was!
We woke up this morning and said it felt like Christmas! The crew was here and somebody else was doing the work on our house! Here is what it looks like now:
It's smooth! We still need to fill in areas with topsoil and put grass seed down. It will be such an improvement from what was there!

That's all I got for now. I'm sure I'll be back soon with more baby stuff!!

putting the crib together

We had a low key Labor Day weekend. One fun thing (well fun to us, maybe not to everyone) that we did was put our baby's crib together.
Of course Betty had to check everything out. She really loves the nursery!
We are almost done with the nursery, just a few more things left.
I will def. post pictures of everything soon!!

30 Weeks

How Far Along: 30 weeks! Only 10 more to go!

Size of Baby: Baby is the size of a cucumber, although not so skinny.

Weight Gain: I've gained about 14 or 15 lbs. The scale at the doctor's office is always about a pound more than at home.

Maternity Clothes: The skirt and shirt in my picture this week aren't maternity, but they are stretchy and loose. I can still wear my pajama pants and stretchy workout pants too. Regular pants are all maternity though.

Gender: Girl!!

Movement: Lots of movement, especially at night.

Sleep: It's okay. I have found how to arrange my pillows and blankets to make it better so that's good.

Symptoms: I get tired easily, I'm def. slowing down. I've had some cramping too.

Food Cravings: Still McDonald's ice cream cones!

Food Aversions: Nothing really this week.

What I Miss: Sleeping on my belly and having more energy.

What I’m Looking Forward To: Having a baby shower this Saturday! I am so excited, I can't wait!!

Best Moment This Week: We put the crib together, the nursery is really coming along. It will be so nice to cross that off my never ending to do list.

I feel so big! But everyone says I am small for only having 2 months left.
